The prarie dog thread got me thinkin about them. I seen one when i was a teenager probably mid 70s was in our pasture not besides far from a junkpile in a fence row.. he was close, just across the argue from me setting in the pickup what i call back was quite red head and back , and black feet and ears.. existent pretty animal, i watched him ten minutes or and so he payed me no never mind... there were lots of flickertail gophers in the surface area at that time.. no prarie dogs in our area.

anyone else ever seen or defenseless one?? I told the game warden and he said in that location were a few around .

The only place you find free cheese is in a mousetrap !

trapper Joined: Jan 2019 Posts: 71 Indiana Co. PA	I was stationed at Minot A.F.B. back in the tardily 80's. To this day I thought (I know) I saw 1 along a perimeter fence. Information technology was also hunting flicker-tail gophers. Called ND Fish & Game, they told me most likely an escaped ferret. Don't call back they followed up on it.

In that location are not many 10,000 acre plots of prairie dog habitat left due to increased farming practices over the past 100 years. In 1987, there were only eighteen black-footed ferrets known to exist worldwide, well-nigh in captivity. That is a very shallow gene pool, which does not lend itself to adjustability to utilize other food sources other than prairie dogs. Sad to say, merely information technology seems likely that they do not have much of a adventure of ever coming back in any significant mode.
